Marvelous Meatballs
1 lb. ground beef
1 egg beaten
1 small onion chopped
1 cup dry bread crumbs
1 tsp. cornstarch
1/2 cup milk
1 tbsp. butter
1 tbsp. oil
3 tbsp. flour
3 cups water
1-2 bouillon cubes
1 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. black pepper
dash allspice
Combine ingredients. Fry onion briefly in butter
before adding. Shape mixture into 40-42 small
balls. Place butter and oil in a skillet;
transferring them to a heavy saucepan as they are
browned. Into fat left in skillet, stir in flour,
water and bouillon cubes. Cook stirring until
smooth. Season to taste and pour the thin gravy
over meat balls. Set aside until 1/2 hour before
serving then reheat thoroughly on top of stove or
in the oven.
