Oven French Toast

Oven French Toast

3 bread slices (1 to 1 1/2 inch thick)
4 eggs slightly beaten
1 cup half and half
1/4 tsp. salt
oil
powdered sugar
Use firm homemade type of bread. Trim crusts and cut bread into
triangles. Mix egg, half and half and salt in bowl. Dip bread
into mixture allowing pieces to absorb as much liquid as possible.
Fry in about 1/2 inch of oil heated to 325 degrees. When brown on
one side turn and brown other side. Place on baking sheet and bake
at 400 degrees 3-5 minutes or until puffed. Drain on paper towels
and sprinkle with powdered sugar. Serve immediately with
applesauce, jelly, honey or syrup.
